A Personal RosettaStone is a small granite tablet with an embedded microchip(s) and engraved symbols that represent your key life milestones or associations. When pre-installed from the factory or added to an existing gravestone (installation is optional) the result is a technologically enhanced memorial that will allow future site visitors to read the story of who this person was from a mobile device. The story is authored on-line by the buyer or the family after installation.
Any Tips on Selecting My Tablet Symbols
We encourage the genealogical symbols use for all RosettaStones. This symbol provides a quick visual que that your RosettaStone contains genalogical information and to meet that expectation you can provide parents names, last residence, military, schools, friends, profession and associations. This type of information may seem simple and even obvious now but it offers tremendous value to future historians and genealogical reserachers. The other two most popular symbols are the many Home country symbols and one of the family symbols. The information you choose to associate with each symbol can be as much or as little detail as you wish. Other symbol options include those associated with faith, profession, hobbies, sports, adventures, home, achievment, joys and even sorrows of life. Veterans are encouraged to share highlights of their military service. Most people that will discover your tablet in the future will be drawn to it by the symbols and curiosity about your time in history. Few of us are CEO's, public figures or rule makers so most RosettaStones tell stories of the common man and woman with messages that are rich in kindness and sharing of lessons learned.
We have hundreds of symbols available. Start here, and let us know if we can help with symbols not found.
What are the Benefits of Having a Technology Enhanced Grave Marker
There are many individual human stories that are extraordinary, most of which we will never learn of because they are of common lives and quiet heroes. Some of the knowledge and life observations of these quiet heroes may have the value of discovered treasure to future generations and the idea of concluding such a life of joys and tragedies with nothing more than a headstone name and date is a historical and social tragedy in itself. Technology enhanced memorials cannot preserve an entire life experience, but they can archive and share parts of these stories as a gift to distant future generations.
How Do I Associate Text and Photo Information With a RosettaStone
Go here. Some of the basic information is hardcoded directly to the stones microchip by us, including alternate long-term data archive place holders that will ultimately receive the detail information you enter. All of the detailed information associated with a Personal RosettaStone is entered by the family or original buyer.
What Happens When I Touch my Cell Phone to the Tablet
If your phone is NFC-RFID enabled, touching your phone to the stone tablet or disk
will return the tablet's associated information.
If your phone is not NFC-enabled you can still access the same information manually by using the URL (channel) shown on the tablet or disk.
What is NFC
NFC stands for Near Field Communication and it is a short-range wireless connectivity technology standard format related to RFID (Radio Frequency Idenification). See Wikipedia definition. NFC is included as a standard data access method on the Personal RosettaStone tablet.
What Cell Phones Will a RosettaStone Work With
You can access the associated data with any Internet-enabled cell phone. Only NFC-enabled phones can access the data using touch-technology. Cell phone users in the United States are not expected to have access to over the counter NFC enabled phones until late 2010.

At What Point in Life Does Someone Purchase a RosettaStone™
RosettaStones are intended for mature adults who have reached a stage in life with identifiable milestones and associations. Such milestones may include a profession, discipline, paternal capacity, love of music or skill, to name only a few.
Each buyer selects their own milestones (tablet symbols) to be engraved in the face of the RosettaStone tablet.
A RosettaStone stays with you during life and represents you after life.

Is the Stone Tablet Engraved, it Feels Smooth
Yes, it is engraved, and there is no paint on the surface or any part of a RosettaStone tablet, with the exception of the occasional errant design and measurement markings left by a stone mason.
Each RosettaStone is engraved using a process called micro-engraving. The closest analogy to how this process works would be a tattoo for stone. Micro-engraving is deeper than traditional laser engraving and has a far greater persistence in presentation service life.
Where is The RosettaStone Made
The RosettaStone is made in two locations in the southwestern United States.
What are the Dimensions of a RosettaStone Tablet
The granite tablet is approximately 2.4" X 4.0" X 0.3; or 60mm X 101mm X 7mm
How Long Will the Granite RosettaStone Tablet Last
The granite tablet is a Millennium Class Artifact (our best), meaning that its outdoor mounted presentation layer (inscrption) life is 3.2 millennium (3,200 years). This product is highly resistant to UV, dry or humid environments, most common man-made chemicals as well as extreme temperatures found in the world's harshest geographic locations. Effects of complete long-term water submersion of less than 100 feet are negligible on the tablets presentation and internal electronics.
Data files are associated with each RosettaStone memorial product. The distant future discover of a RosettaStones archived data file is predicate on the continuity of the current Internet environment with similar or improved search and image recognition characteristics.
The RosettaStone internal electronics (NFC) technology is not yet rated. This technology serves a purpose similar to a TV remote control as well as the store of duplicate elements of remote data. If the NFC techology fails then the associated remote data survives and is still discoverable as long as the presentation layer and the Internet survive.
